Enlisted at Richmond, N Yorks.
Son of John William Rudd and the late Emma Rudd
of 23 Harker St, Skelton Green, N Yorkshire.

FAMILY:-
1901. Harry, aged 7, is living at Borrowby-cum-Gueldable, rural district of Northallerton, N Yorks. He was born in Landmouth, Yorks.
His father, also John W, aged 42, is a General Labourer. He was born in Carlton, N Yorks.
His mother, Emma, aged 43, was born in Lyng, Norfolk.
He had a brother John William, aged 10, born Spaldington, Yorks and 3 sisters, Isabella, 9, born Landmouth, Annie, 1 and Harriett, 8 mths, both born in Borrowby.
1911. Harry is aged 17 and working as a Farm Servant for Thomas William Walker at Snow Close Farm, Ripon, N Yorks.
Harry's brother, John William, who also worked as a Farm Servant at this time, was killed in the War on the 28th September 1916. See separate entry.
The Commonwealth War Graves certificate states - "Son of John William Rudd, of 23, Harker St., Skelton-in-Cleveland, Yorks, and the late Emma Rudd.".
WAR SITUATION
The 13th (Service) Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment were formed in Richmond, July 1915, as a Bantam Bn.
July 1915 : attached to 121st Brigade, 40th Division.
The 40th Division at the end of the war fought in the final advance in Flanders around Ypres.
It is not known when Harry was wounded, but it seems likely that it was in this last period of the War and he was repatriated to a UK hospital, where he died.
